Web Design: Portfolios

Web Design: Portfolios lists some of the most beautifully designed sites on the web today. These are the sites of designers, photographers, motion graphics artists, and illustrators. Each page contains a description of the creative concept that was the driving force behind what would eventually become the final website, telling the story of the way the site was designed rather than the content it contains. Taschen has done a great job of selecting sites that present the artists work with elegance and style. Below selected screenshots of the sites, the book lists the designers and programmers names, the tools used (HTML, Flash, Java, etc.), awards, and development time and maintenance time for each.

Showcasing the work from artists in over 30 different countries, this book also sets the stage for where the creative edges are currently set, and how the digital artists of today are pushing those boundaries buy pushing the limits of navigation and content delivery outside of corporate context.

Taschen started in 1980 selling comics in Cologne, Germany, and has since grown to become a book publisher of subjects including Architecture, Art, Design, Film, Lifestyle, Pop Culture, and more along those lines.

The Editor of this book, Julius Wiedemann, was born and raised in Brazil and after studying graphic design and marketing he left the country to live in Japan for almost 4 years. After working in Tokyo as art editor for digital and design magazines, he joined Taschen as the editor in charge for the digital collection, working currently in the headquarters in Cologne.
