Linotype FontExplorer X (Mac)

Posted on July 13th, 2006

lino Ever since Mac went to OS X and Adobe decided not to update ATM Deluxe I have been looking for a good font management software package. I tried Suitcase and Font Reserve but had issues with both pieces of software. Thankfully, LinoType released FontExplorer X for us Mac users.

This software makes it easy to install, manage and buy fonts. It supports auto font activation without taxing your system withg large RAM requirements like other font management programs, and has built in tools for:

  • Detecting Fonts in Documents
  • Cleaning System Fonts Folders
  • Cleaning the Manage Folder
  • Cleaning Application Font Caches
  • Cleaning Font Caches
  • Configurations
  • Optimizing the Database
  • Installing Additional Font Request Plug-Ins

Two bonus features are the Smart Sets that will automatically create font sets based upon user defined criteria, and the editable Comment field for easier searching.

And to top it off, the software is FREE. Free of cost and free of nag screens.
